Cracker.

Today in class I told called a 'rice krispie treat,' the person that made this comment was implying the term as a racial slur. So I began to wonder what does rice krispie treat mean? What does 'white cracker' mean?

Now, of all the people I have surveyed have not a clue what 'rice krispie treat' means.

However, 'white cracker' or 'cracker' is known among the population; is a racial slur others use for white people.

But, does anyone truly know the actual meaning? Where does the word 'cracker' come from?

The word cracker comes from the days of slavery, when the master would crack the whip. The black slaved women would tell their children to behave or the cracker was going to get them.

The term 'cracker' was a way to keep their children in line.

White vs. Black

When you look up the word racism in the dictionary, you will find the definition is: a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

The race card is used daily, "it is because I'm white." or "Those crackers are doing this because we are black."

The race card has been played since Obama sought the Presidential seat and really came into play when he was elected. I remember the night and weeks after Obama won the election, I attended Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches. That night people came out of their dorm rooms, and screamed, "Watch out, all you crackers, we got a black president now."

Jump ahead a couple of years, people are claiming the "birthers" are racist because they asked for Obama's birth certificate because he is black. Now they are demanding to see his records from college.

The color of the skin is not the factor into why people dislike Obama, it is his views on issues, it is his politics. Maybe the birthers have a right to ask considering there are conflicting reports coming from his own family to where he was born. The color of your skin has been a heated issue since the birth of this nation. First, group that was affect was the Indians, then came the blacks and people of Japanese decent. Everyone at some point in their lives will have to deal with being called a racist and the people in the public eye have to sometimes deal with it more.

In the definition it states racism is "inherited differences among the various human races determine cultural." We do inherent the views of our ancestors, and one powerful hand, the 'race card'; which has been played more than 100 years.
You learned people believed that the world was flat, that airplanes only existed in the imagination. People grow up, times change, views change based on one's personal experiences but, why is it that people believe this ONE belief has not changed in time. Why can we not drop the 'race card'.

My question is, are people really racist or is the race card played to much when people disagree or do not get their way?

Updates, Updates, READ all about it!

If I were editor-in-chief I would want my reporter's covering these issues that could play a role in the 2012 presidential election. We would look into both sides of the spectrum.

In recent events, Bin Laden was killed by U.S. Navy Seals, which was announced to the public on May 1st. But, even when the President addressed the death of Bin Laden, some people still do not believe he was killed and buried at sea. The people are screaming they want proof. So, I think that we should give it to them. Let's look into why they really have not been released, what is Obama saying, and what to are some outlooks from both sides. This nation is run by the people so if the majority of them want to see why do they not show us.

Second, what affects almost every person in the United States daily? THE GAS PRICES.

Today, I took a major hit in my bank account spending $103 to just to fill up my Mercury Mountaineer. My parents often reflect to when gas was 20 cents, letting me know and envy that time. I want my reporters to investigate the price increase and why if  oil prices dropped 8.6 percent, averaging $100 a barrel, why has the gas prices not gone down? How much are we using for the oil rigs off of our coast line? What could help the prices go down, without having to buy electric cars?

Also, I want my reporters to look into where America's economy is today?

I want to take a look where America is falling on the business cycle:

Obama claims we are in recovery but the American people are saying, we are still in the recession. I want to take a look in our economy and where we stand. The unemployment rate stands strongly at 8.8 percent, with seeing no end in sight. Let's take a look into the raising amount of homeless families in the U.S., and look into this 'recovery' Obama is saying we are in. Also, think about if illegals are helping or hurting this job situation we are in. What should be done about the illegals in this country?

Other topics to cover: the debt, the budget, national security, foreign policy, take a look into what we are still doing with Libya and lastly how much power does the president really have?

Reaction to Bin Laden's Death

On the same day Hitler's death was announced, the U.S. people rejoiced after hearing the death of Bin Laden:

Ground Zero, New York, New York

Washington, DC

But how did the other part of the world reacted to the death?
Asia:

Middle East:
There is no doubt everyone will remember where they were when they heard U.S.'s public enemy number one has been killed and buried at sea.
More than 3,000 innocent people were killed on September 11, 2001 at the hand of Bin Laden. On that same day the world opened its' eyes to Bin Laden and the people that followed him.
Obama's addressed the nation (which broke in during Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice) and continually made a bunch of 'I, I, I, I' statements. My reaction to the 'I' statements: Obama was not overseas fight over there, he has not been away from his family for over 6 months or a year, and he did not shoot Bin Laden. I find it absolutely disgusting he made those comments  and only thanked the troops, who risk their lives for us, 3 times.
So, instead I want to thank the Navy Seals, who finally got Bin Laden, and all the other troops world wide and their families. Thank you for protecting my family, and this nation.

This is not the end to the war over there this is only the beginning, Le Ann Sides, a proud mother of a U.S. soldier, puts it best, "This war is not over. They will just replace him."

Are My Childhood Dreams Crushed?

When I was little I wanted to be Vanna White, then later on I was in awe of the weatherman on television and the anchors on the TV station.
My parents support my decision to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism and accepted the fact journalists do not make much after graduating college.
According to California State University “In September of 1998, the average salary offered for graduating CSUF journalism students was $24,248.”
That was in 1998, but what about now? Missouri School of Journalism is reporting Radio/TV majors are making $27,500.
That is only a 3,252 dollar raise but, groceries, clothes and gas prices are much higher now than in 1998. How can one afford survive on that pay?
In 2007, my professors said this was the major to be in; this was the field that would be booming when I graduated. Fast forward four years and it has turned 180 degrees.
Economic Policy Institute reports, “The unemployment rate for 16- to 24-year-old workers averaged 18.4%, compared with 9.6% for U.S. workers overall.”
After, acquiring grants and collecting thousands of dollars in multiple loans, endless hours of sitting in classrooms and lecture halls, and endless hours of writing papers and studying, and stressing; all to get a piece of paper signed. I might not have a job when I graduate. It is very discouraging.
When the Texas school districts had to layoff many of their teachers due to budget cuts and the unemployment rate being the highest ever; scares me. It makes me wonder should I pursue a master’s degree after I graduate. That would give this economy three years to turn around in the job opportunities that could arise.
I believe things happen for a reason, there is greater plan than I know.  Life is a roller coaster, it has its ups and down.

Another Obama Speech

The speech that Obama made on Fiscal Policy was supposedly suppose to be unbiased but I feel he put a lot of blame on the Republicans.
     Obama first starts out saying:
"What we’ve been debating here in Washington over the last few weeks will affect the lives of the students here and families all across America in potentially profound ways."
Well, I believe that is a given, anything that the government does has a profound affect on the citizens of this country; that is common sense.
Obama goes on to giving a history lesson, that blames Republicans for the situtation that this nation is in today:
"But as far back as the 1980s, America started  debt at  alarming levels, and our leaders began to realize that a larger challenge was on the horizon."
and goes on, "But after Democrats and Republicans committed to fiscal discipline during the 1990s, we lost our way in the decade that followed.  We increased spending dramatically for two wars and an expensive prescription drug program -– but we didn’t pay for any of this new spending.  Instead, we made the problem worse with trillions of dollars in unpaid-for tax cuts -– tax cuts that went to every millionaire and billionaire in the country; tax cuts that will force us to borrow an average of $500 billion every year over the next decade."
There was a lot of finger pointing from Obama but I believe not enough explaining how to fix the problems.
Obama made a comment later on in the speech that this country will "have to live within our means." According to ABC news, we paid at least $255 million for the 161 Tomahawk cruise missiles we used in 'helping' Libya. Could we really afford helping another country when we are in the trouble we are in now?
The Week reported in July 2010, Obama took 65 days of family vacation. "During the those same 20 months since Obama began his regime, the average American family has taken less that 21 days of vacation, IF they are employed," reports Mark Knoller. Should we be looking at the president to set example by 'living in our means'?
"50 million Americans [would] have to lose their health insurance in order for us to reduce the deficit.  Who are these 50 million Americans?... Many are poor children.  Some are middle-class families who have children with autism or Down’s syndrome.  Some of these kids with disabilities are -- the disabilities are so severe that they require 24-hour care.  These are the Americans we’d be telling to fend for themselves."
Poor children have poor parents and the special needs children's family already suffer with the amount of doctors bills, special therapy and other essentials they need in order to live. According to Disabled World, "In the United States, caring for a child with special health care needs usually means higher medical expenses for a family, particularly for low-income families, who spend a disproportionally large share of their income on their child's care."
For example: A family with a child that has a cleft palate has trouble getting help from doctors and the government here; but we send our doctors, our money to help the child with the same condition over seas.
Obama's plan is to reduce the deficit by 4 trillion dollars over the next 12 years; he mentions he was put this plan into effect in his second-term of presidency. He is still in his first how can he be already planning for his second why can't he be able to do a little something now?

The Budget and Me...

The national budget cuts could hit me more than I thought so or would prefer to admit.
I am currently attending the University of Houston and my brother is going to Stephen F. Austin State University; we both need financial aid to complete our degrees . The budget cuts heavily into education funding. Back in February, the UH board of regents approved to raise the tuition by 3.95 percent- which means a full-time student would pay $138 more a semester. $138 could by groceries for a week, could buy at least 3 pairs of shoes or it could even pay for maybe 1 textbook for a class. With the raise of tuition and the drastic cuts to education funding; grants and loans would be cut. Which means we would have to pay more up front for our education and less for other needs we have.
Majority of the politicians are claiming they will "not touch Social Security" but in Obama's speech on Wednesday, he stated that nothing is off limits. If Social Security is affected in this cut, it would affect my grandma and my grandfather who both depend on their Social Security checks. After health complications my grandfather has to live in a nursing home to best support him. The nursing home is already expensive and if cuts do happen it will drastically hit the pockets of my grandma and my family as well as father's two brothers and their families.
The state of Texas has already implemented layoffs in the school systems. My mother is a special ed teacher, her school was affected by the state budget cuts to the school districts but she is paid  by federal money. When she sign her contract it stated that if federal money was cut then she could lose her job.
Right now the economy is horrible. The unemployment  rate is extremely high right now. I am afraid that  these cuts will  affect the unemployment rate and the future of this country.  What will happen to students next month graduating from college? When I graduate,  I  will have a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in education, both  have been hit hard today.  In a year for now I believe that I will be affected in the the jobs that I will be able to apply.

WINNING!

A dark cloud loomed over Washington D. C. on April 8, with the question everyone was asking: Would the government shut down tonight?
The answer: Not today!
Obama issued funding of an extension for Republicans and Democrats to work on the budget, extending the government to make deal by next Friday.
So, who wins with this extension? Does it benefit the Republicans or Democrats?  More importantly does it help or hurt us, the American citizens?
Republicans and Tea Partiers are winners in this situation; they have more time to get the necessary cuts that is needed to be made.  They showed they will not back down for what they and their voters believe in, they are looking to the future for this country making sure it has some hope under this administration.
Democrats on the other hand are clearly to blame.
“Had they done their jobs last year, when Democrats has ample majorities in the House and Senate, the government would have been funded for the current fiscal year,” reports from Fox Nation
Along with his buddies, Obama will be suffering in the long term. Michelle Malkin a Fox News contributor raised some valid points concerning where Obama's priorities reside:
I wish the government would have shut down Friday because that would mean
over 80,000 federal workers out of a job temporally and government elected officials would not get paid either. Government offices would be shut down completely and the federal employees would not be receiving paychecks maybe then they could feel like the true American citizens of this country are feeling. Where in the U.S. 8.8% of Americans are unemployed and falling behind on bills.
American citizens are not winning with the extension in the long term, the Democrats with the prolonging of something that was needed to be done LAST June. When are Democrats and Obama going to own up and admit that they are wrong, they messed up?
Obama's  idea of "winning the future," does not back up what Democrats have been dishing. Obama you might want to change your slogan.

A Government Cover-Up?

On March 23 Donald Trump ask to see Obama's birth certificate

This is not the first time or even the last time someone will be asking to see proof of Obama being a natural born U.S. citizen.

Obama's administration did release a birth announcement that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser, that "revealed" he was born in the US.

They also released in June 2008 a certificate of live birth (shown here):

But, Tim Adams, a former Hawaii elections clerk, has stated there is "no long- form, hospital-generated birth certificate existed for Barack Obama Jr. in Hawaii and that neither Queens Medical Center nor Kapi'olani Medical Center in Honolulu had any record of Obama having been born in their medical facilities."

The claims Tim Adams supports Israel National News piece stating Obama's own grandmother says he was born in Kenya.

"According to Obama's Kenyan (paternal) grandmother, as well as his half-brother and half-sister, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Kenya, not in Hawaii as the Democratic candidate for president claims.  His grandmother bragged that her grandson is about to be President of the United States and is so proud because she was present DURING HIS BIRTH IN KENYA, in the delivery room."

According to a poll asking Americans: Do you believe Obama was born in the US?
51% believe Obama was NOT born in the United States
28% believe Obama WAS born in the United States

If Obama's administration is claiming he is a natural US citizen and his own grandmother is claiming he was born in Kenya; bottom line someone is lying the question is who?

What is so hard showing a birth certificate? If you are telling the truth why don't you show it? Are you trying to hide something? Is there something you think we the public, the people that keep you in or out of the office, not going to like? Yes, they did release a certificate of live birth, and his birth announcement but where is the actual birth certificate?

Donald Trump released his:

I think that if you are wanting to run this country you need to show proof you were born in this country. Senator Bill Ketron sponsored a bill which states a president must show his or her birth certificate. Unfortunately, the presidential birth certificate bill failed in the House.

Is there something the House knows that they do not want to share? Is this a government cover-up?

I have more questions than answers!

In my last post: I stated Obama's administration claimed Libya is not a "war" it is however, "a limited humaniartian intervention" from our view point. But, according to New York's Channel 6 website their headline read, "Obama to address nation on Libyan civil War."

Regarding the President’s Address to the Nation on Libya:

Tonight Obama updated the U.S. citizens on the international effort that we have led in Libya – what we have done, what we plan to do, and why this matters to us.”

I am glad that you are going to address this issue, because I have tons of questions.

“The United States of America has played a unique role as an anchor of global security and advocate for human freedom… But when our interests and values are at stake, we have a responsibility to act.”
But, Mr. President what are our interests and values? Does these issues change from the citizens to the government officals?

Obama referenced Tunisia and Egypt as being “two nations that inspired the world when their people rose up to take control of their own destiny” from a tyrant. Libya has been under Moammar Gaddafi’s (a known tyrant) control for more than four decades. If Tunisia and Egypt “rose up to take control of their own destiny” without any help from the United States, why can’t Libya do the same?

Moammar Gaddafi “denied his people freedom, exploited their wealth, murdered opponents at home and abroad, and terrorized innocent people around the world – including Americans who were killed by Libyan agents.”
Obama goes on to say, “innocent people were targeted for killing… Journalists were arrested, sexually assaulted, and killed.”

Lara Logan, a female reporter and Anderson Cooper were brutally attacked in Egypt during the uprising. They both are Americans and they were both attacked, so Americans have not only been attacked in Libya.

“At [Obama’s] direction, America led an effort with our allies at the United Nations Security Council to pass an historic Resolution that authorized a No Fly Zone to stop the regime's attacks from the air, and further authorized all necessary measures to protect the Libyan people.”
OK, so Obama lead in the inference in the Libyan Civil War.

“We knew that if we waited one more day, Benghazi – a city nearly the size of Charlotte – could suffer a massacre that would have reverberated across the region and stained the conscience of the world.”
Question: Mr. President, how do you know what he was going to do; are you a mind reader?
“It was not in our national interest to let that happen. I refused to let that happen.”
Question: Is it ours, the citizens of the U.S. or is it your interest to involve us in this war?
“And so nine days ago, after consulting the bipartisan leadership of Congress, I authorized military action to stop the killing and enforce UN Security Council Resolution 1973.”
Did you really consult the bipartisan leadership of Congress because Rand Paul said you did not?
Rand Paul says Obama did consult with the UN and with the Libyans, but he “didn’t even consult Congress about this intervention.” Members from your own party is calling for your impeachment becasue you side stepped Congress.
“Last night, NATO decided to take on the additional responsibility of protecting Libyan civilians.”
What would happen if last night NATO decided they did not want to be a part of protecting Libya anymore? What would happen to the United States role?
“Because of this transition to a broader, NATO-based coalition, the risk and cost of this operation – to our military, and to American taxpayers – will be reduced significantly.”
I would think that you would have considered our military and taxpayers risk and the cost before you “led the effort” in helping Libya.
“In addition to our NATO responsibilities, we will work with the international community to provide assistance to the people of Libya, who need food for the hungry and medical care for the wounded.”
What about the homeless in the United States, they are in need of food and medical care? According to National Alliance of End Homelessness there are around “671,859 people  experiencing homelessness on any given night in the United States.”
Question: Mr. President how can you help other countries when this countries citizens are needing help?
Secretary Clinton is going to London, “where she will meet with the Libyan opposition and consult with more than thirty nations. These discussions will focus on…supporting a transition to the future that the Libyan people deserve.”
What does the citizens of the United States deserved? I believe that the homeless of American deserve more than what they are given now. I believe the citizens of the U.S. need to have a say were our money is going.
“Because while our military mission is narrowly focused on saving lives.”
Do Libyan lives count more than the people that are in your own country, Mr. President?
“The transition to a legitimate government that is responsive to the Libyan people will be a difficult task. And while the United States will do our part to help, it will be a task for the international community, and – more importantly – a task for the Libyan people themselves.”
Didn’t Bush say something similar with our involvement in Iraq?
“As President, I refused to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves before taking action.”
So, with that said Mr. President are we going to Sudan and Tibet next?
Iraq’s “regime change there took eight years, thousands of American and Iraqi lives, and nearly a trillion dollars. That is not something we can afford to repeat in Libya.”
Mr. President how do you know that will not happen again? You must have some psychic ability we are not aware of.

Obama states, “we have ended our combat mission in Iraq and removed more than 100,000 troops from that country.”
Where is the 100,00 plus troops? I have not seen the proof, all I see is more being shipped off overseas.
“The ability of our people to reach their potential, to make wise choices with our resources, to enlarge the prosperity that serves as a wellspring of our power, and to live the values that we hold so dear” must always be our “North Star.”
Mr. President, tonight your speech focused on the point to “protect our interests and values.” What about protecting our country?
Because, like you said, your role “As Commander-in-Chief, I have no greater responsibility than keeping this country safe.”

Is impeachment in the future for Obama?

U.S. Constitution, Article 1, Sec. 8 states that “Congress shall have the power…to declare war.”

Obama has taken sides in Libya’s civil war, which in turn the United States has taken sides as well.
Now many are asking if Obama declaration to help Libyan rebels overturn their government unconstitutional?
Does the President have the power to authorize a military attack?
In 2007, our Vice President now, Joe Biden went on record:

According to Obama and Biden, the president does not have the power to declare war; however, it is Congress’ job to declare war and only their right to do so.
To my surprise Republicans and Democrats are uniting together to say what Obama declared is unconstitutional.
“Somebody has to be here to try to get our troops back and stop these wars,” Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) said.
War Powers Resolution states the president can only send the armed forces into military action abroad if
                -Congress has authorized it
                                Or
-U.S. is under attack or a serious threat of an attack to the U.S.
Libya was not attacking us nor were they threatening a serious attack to the United States. Congress did not declare war on Libya or any action for our military to take action to on Libya soil.
Obama’s administration has stated what is happening in Libya is not a “war” it is however “a limited humanitarian intervention”.
One campaign promise Obama made back in 2007 was to bring our troops back from overseas. He has yet to bring them back; in fact he is sending more troops over there.
Obama stated this “intervention” will only take 90 days, but how can Obama make that deadline when he doesn’t know what will happen?
I believe Libya will become a major issue in the coming up election; this issue has made many Americans asking themselves has Obama abused his power?

Nuclear Power Crisis

Nuclear power has always raised question marks. What is nuclear power, and is it safe? Will this help solve the global warming crisis? What are the long term effects from nuclear power?
Japan has recently suffered a disastrous earthquake followed by a tsunami; thousands of Japanese lost their lives and their homes from this natural disaster. On top of that, the country is now facing a threat from the nuclear power plants that suffered critical damage from both disasters.
The nuclear power plants in Japan are giving off radiation which could be contaminating their food, water and themselves.
The Vancouver Sun is reporting the “radiation levels in the sea off of Fukushima Daiichi plant have soared to 1,250 times normal just over two weeks.”
The Japanese government has told at least 10,000 people living in 20 miles radius from the nuclear power plants to leave for their safety.
Japanese are living in fear; they had to leave their homes for the rest of their lives because of this harmful radiation.
What does this mean to us living in the United States?
MSNBC’s Last Word host Lawrence O’Donnell claims, “Most Americans live within 50 miles of a nuclear power plant.”
Houston is in a 90-mile radius from a power plant in College Station; also another on in Matagorda County.
A Texas utility company wants to expand their business by building a new power plants near Bay City, Texas. Although, no new power plant has won approval from the federal government many want this expanison to happen.
Many residents believe that the power plants would create new jobs and help create clean power to save the environment.
With the recent events the plan of building new plants has been put on the back burner. The company addresses they have “multiple, unique safety features designed to prevent similar disasters here in Texas.” They also go on to say “the safety systems are located in water-tight, concrete buildings designed to withstand earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, storm surges and flooding.”
Could these nuclear power plants cause a threat to us?
Radiation poisoning is a true possibility that could affect thousands who live near a nuclear power plant exposing themselves to radiation.
Did you know that radiation is emitted from x-ray machines, microwaves, infrared lights, and in radio waves. The mostly commonly used treatment to treat cancer is chemotherapy (a form a radiation).
Americans are constantly exposed to forms of radiation every day; due to the media and this event, many have suddenly became aware of the effects from radiation.
Nuclear power has always been a political issue; candidates need to stand up strongly if they are for it or against it.
I believe this issue will be relevant in the future election, the media will be constantly updating the situation in Japan following up how much progress they have made. Whether the nuclear power plants have shut down over there or if there has been any long term effects coming from this disaster.

Biased?

A cardinal rule to being a journalist is to avoid being biased. The reporter is telling a story of what is going on at that time. Each viewer as a different view point on what is happening at that time. If you cast yourself to being biased about a particular case and the viewer does not like your opinion you are giving rather than the facts, they could turn against you. Why would a reporter or a news channel want to drive away viewers because they present biased reports.
For example: The Wisconsin protest media coverage is extremely biased. The media is portraying Governor Walker to be viewed as someone who is wrong and evil. While the Democratic Senators are being praised for throwing up their hands and leaving the state because they did not agree with what Walker is presenting.

Everyone disagrees with someone at some point but are you suppose to just give up and run away from the issue or are you suppose to discuss the issue and problem solve?

What is the media message is this sending the children?

Fox news supports my view the coverage being biased.

When a reporter is called biased it could hurt their reputation or even end their career. FOX News has been said to be biased, leaning towards the right. CNN is biased as well, with them reporting more to the left. Where is a news station that reports with a unbiased opinion? The answer is NO WHERE. In my opinion everyone is biased in some way or another. I believe it is the viewers job to look at both sides of the story to find the facts of the story and find a middle ground.

I am sorry! I can't hear you!

The Bill of Rights 1st Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Last week the Supreme Court ruled in favor for the Westboro Baptist Church on the stand it was their Constitutional right to protest at a military funeral.  Westboro Church is spewing out the idea that "GOD HATES AMERICA" because the military will soon allow for gays to be open about their sexuality.

Reports claim that Westboro is on the move to 'quadruple' military protests.

This particular case started to make people analysis: What is freedom of speech?

Sarah Palin recently commented on the courts decision: "We are told we can't say 'God bless you' in graduation speeches or pray before a local football game but these wackos can invoke God's name in their hate speech while picketing our military funerals, it shows ridiculous inconsistency."

I, personally think the action Westboro Church took is disgusting, protesting at a Marine's funeral, putting the soldier's picture on their propaganda is disrespectful and trashy.

Recently, three celebrities John Galliano, Charlie Sheen, and Julian Assange made racist comments against Jews. What is happing to them? Are they just invoking their freedom of speech or is it wrong?

Grant these hateful remarks are morally wrong, but it is in the constitution. So, what can we the 'sane' people do to show these foul we don't agree?

I am all for the freedom of speech so they can say what the want only if I can have my say in the matter. I have choices: I can either let them know how I feel verbally or physically. My way would be to hit them where it really hurts, in their pocket books.

For example: John Galliano a famous fashion designer was caught on camera making anti- Semitic insults. The house of Dior first suspended when Galliano comments first came to light. After, the remarks were confirmed house of Dior fired Galliano on March 4. They say they do not believe in the comments made by Galliano and don't want Galliano's image to be associated with house of Dior.

Hate words, anti-Semitic comments, etc. are all protected by the 1st Amendment but so are our words and actions to speak out against them. We just have to be louder!

Trouble in Wisconsin

Democrats are blaming the Republicans and the Republicans are blaming the Democrats. Everyone has to blame someone so they blame each other; no one wants to take ownership of the problem. However with these she said, he said excuses no one seems to be fixing the problem.
The economy and budget cuts are occurring all over the United States, but the issue really heated up in Wisconsin.
Governor Scott Walker proposed a plan that would "require higher pension and health insurance contributions and remove bargaining rights except for wages, which would be limited to be not greater than the Consumer Price Index." The bargaining changes would exempt the unions of public safety officers, including police, firefighters, and state troopers.
Take for example the teachers that are protesting the budget cuts.
Teachers are meant to teach students the basic knowledge to help them later on in life. But, why are Wisconsin’s teachers, calling in sick so they can protest against Governor Walker’s plan?
Teachers are public servants, the ideal teacher has a drive to teacher the kids in their classrooms, and their lives are devoted to the education of the students. That does not seem to be the case in Wisconsin.

Rush Limbaugh states the obivious,The taxpayers are not paying for a sick day, but a protest day.  Maybe some criminal fraud charges should be filed against individual teachers.  Maybe it's hardball time here.”
Limbaugh interviewed a teacher in Wisconsin who explained her thoughts,” I am an elementary teacher myself, and I think what the teachers in Wisconsin are doing is deplorable.  I myself in Michigan can't find a job because I have a master's degree equaling too much money.  They can hire two newbies for one of me.  But off of that, here they are walking off the job; teaching their students that it's acceptable to just call in sick if you don't like what's going on.  No, no, no!  So I think that it's just... It blows my mind that they're even considering and tolerating the actions of these immature teachers in Wisconsin.”
Do you really want someone who thinks they can walk out at any time teaching your kids? Teaching children when something is not going your way, are you supposed to drop everything, drop your responsibilities and throw a fit?
Is this a Republican conspiracy to bust up the unions? I don’t think so.
I think that Walker is trying to reduce spending of the government in order to help the people of that state.
Randy Lewis, a spokesperson for the Tea Party Patriots, backs up Walkers' ideas, “"Every state needs an adult in the room to cut off the spending and tell the children they can't use the credit card anymore.”
No one wants to be cut off! But, when should the spending stop?

One Bite and You Are Hooked!

A classic American book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, the mouse goes to a friend’s house and sees the big chocolate chip cookie, he wants the cookie bad, when he takes a bite of the cookie, he is in heaven. But, that feeling does not last for long, he wants more cookies, he wants milk, he wants a place to eat the cookie. Once he got a taste he could not shake the pure delight the cookie gave him.
George W. Bush said, “you can’t put democracy and freedom back into a box.”
Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Iran and Libya have seen the power of democracy, the power of the people and have gotten a taste of the “cookie”.

Newsworthy!

News sources seem to be focusing on only Obama's accomplishments. What more people should be asking is: What happened to his promises he made when trying to get elected?

In 2009, Politifact.com reported "Obama made 510 promises when he was running for president" and analysis found that Obaba "made more than twice as many promises as George W. Bush and Bill Clinton."

George W. Bush made 122 promises and Clinton made 204. Even theirs combined don't come near Obama's.

Did he believe that all he had to do is make the promises?  What about the people that counted on the promises?  Where is the examination of Obama and his so-called promises? Did Obama bite off more than he could chew?
Obama seems to be dabbling in the business of other countries, focusing on helping them, and telling them what to do. However, back at home, this country is falling apart and desperately needs help.  Who should he help first: the USA or other countries?
The unemployment rate seems to be making it in the news everyday, but what about plans and promises to fix it? One of Obama’s promises was to lower the unemployment rate. He and his party continually speak of the rate decreasing under the ‘Obama’s watch’ by using November and December unemployment rates. Of course those months would be higher due to the demand that the holidays put on businesses and seasonal employment. However, after the hustle and bustle of the holidays is over the same people are back in the unemployment lines and sending off their resumes looking for new work.
Blogger bydesign001 backs up my views

The unemployment rate now at 9.8% which means around 13.2 million people are out of work.
Another promise Obama made was that he would create “5 million ‘green’ jobs as a part of a more energy efficient economy,” according to PolitiFact.
If Obama created this it would bring the unemployment rate down to 8.2 million out of work.
Washington Post article states Obama promised to “create or save 1 million jobs with a $25 billion investment in infrastructure projects.”
This creation would bring the numbers to 7.2 million unemployed Americans, which was about the average in the 1990’s.

Another promise: to create secure borders.

How can one create secure boarders when you have cities that are safe for illegals to come and reside in? How can you create a health care bill that allows illegals to be granted health care which is ultimately being paid by the American citizens?
To me it seems like you are asking for illegals to come into this country. So, another promise can be tossed in the garage.
Yet another interesting promise: Obama based his campaign on ending the war.
CBS News quoted Obama stating “I’m not opposed to all wars, I’m opposed to dumb wars” when asked about Bush’s administration-approved invasion of Iraq. Obama planned on having all most of the troops home by now, yet when Obama took office he sent even more troops overseas.
Does that make sense, for someone to feel so strongly about ending a ‘dumb war’ to send more troops to fight for something that he disagrees with? I think not.
When Bush was President, the news constantly hounded him about his short comings and his mistakes. News stories filled the airways and presses with complaints about him, people not liking his stand on the war and sending troops off to the unknown. On the other hand Obama’s news stories are filled with his family’s vacations, Obama and his secrets for staying in shape. Does he want to be a reality TV star or a President of this great country?
When Obama was trying to become elected, he made promises; all politicians make promises they can’t keep and (sometimes) admit to them. However, Obama made promises that were way out of his league, and way too many to complete in a 4 year span.
“I do hope that we can put all politics aside and do the American people’s business right now”- Obama
Question: When will this happen?
Some experts say his promises were based on a two term election, who is to say that he will be elected again.
All I have to say is ‘Don’t make promises you can’t keep!’
